The Ashen Key

The Ashen Key

A spell for unlocking barriers—emotional, energetic, or circumstantial—that hold you back.

Purpose:
To dissolve blockages and open pathways forward. Especially useful when you feel trapped or stagnant.

Ingredients:
 • A slip of paper
 • Charcoal or ash (a pinch is enough)
 • A small iron key (real or symbolic; even drawn on paper works)
 • A black candle

Ritual:
 1. On the paper, write the barrier or blockage in a single word (fear, money, love, etc.).
 2. Sprinkle ash over the word until it’s obscured.
 3. Place the key on top of the ash-covered word.
 4. Light the black candle and say:
“By flame, by ash, by iron, I turn the lock. No gate shall hold me.”
 5. Let the candle burn for 13 minutes, then extinguish it.
 6. Dispose of the paper outdoors, letting the wind scatter the ash. Keep the key as your talisman.

Effect:
Within a lunar cycle, opportunities or breakthroughs appear where there were obstacles. You’ll notice stagnant areas loosening and opening.
