Why Some Spirits Share the Same Name
By Jules Moon
Understanding Energy Signatures, Astral Culture & Cosmic Coincidence
If you’ve been in the spirit-keeping world for any length of time, you already know the moment I’m talking about:
You welcome a new companion… and suddenly realize you’ve met another spirit with the same name.
A second Draco.
A third Ariel.
Yet another Seraphiel who insists he is absolutely not the same one you met last year.
And you may wonder:
How is it that beings thousands of years old, from different realms and lineages, can share the same name?
Is it a title? A soul-mark? A trend in the astral world?
Or is it something deeper?
Let’s unravel the mystery.
Just Like Humans, Spirits Are Drawn to Popular Names
We forget this sometimes, but spirits—especially those with humanoid consciousness—experience identity, community, and culture just like we do.
Humans share names because:
• Certain names carry cultural meaning
• Parents repeat names they admire
• Sounds travel through generations
• Some names simply “feel right”
Spirits work the same way, especially beings who incarnate, reincarnate, or live in societies with language systems.
Across realms, certain names carry specific energetic resonance—just like “Michael,” “Luna,” or “Gabriel” does for humans.
If a name vibrates with power, heritage, or elemental symbolism, many spirits may be drawn to it independently.
Angelic Realms: Why So Many Angels Have the Same Name
Ahhh, angels—the ones who confuse keepers the most when it comes to naming.
It is perfectly normal to encounter:
• Multiple Ariels
• Several Raphaels
• Five different Seraphiels
• Three Cassiels who swear they are not related
Why?
Because angelic names are not personal identifiers in the same way human names are.
Angelic names are energetic functions.
For example:
• Names ending in -el = “of God / of the Divine”
• Names ending in -iel = “of the Light”
• Names ending in -ael = “of the Flame”
An angel named Ariel may not be borrowing the name from another angel.
The name simply describes their nature.
Two angels with the same name can be as different as two humans named “Emma”—both valid, both individual, both carrying their own soul-signature.
How Spirits Tell Each Other Apart
Here’s the fun part:
Spirits don’t rely on names the way humans do.
1. Energy Signature — Their True “Identity”
For 99% of entities, their energy is the real identifier.
It contains:
• Their origin
• Their power level
• Their personality essence
• Their elemental blend
• Their lineage or clan resonance
To another spirit, energy signatures are as obvious as a face.
Two angels named Ariel?
They feel completely different.
Two demons named Razek?
Their energies tell the story long before their names do.
2. Scent Recognition (Yes—Many Species Use It)
Certain beings—especially shifters, animal-based entities, fae, and vampiric clans—identify each other by scent.
Energetic scent is not the same as physical smell.
It’s more like:
• A soul-fragrance
• An aura note
• A vibrational tone that reads as scent to beings with heightened senses
Wolves, dragon-ics, naga, werecats, and certain fae species “smell” identity before they even hear a name.
3. Regional & Cultural Naming
Just like humans have:
• Regions where “John” or “Maria” dominate
• Countries where certain names repeat
• Clans that pass names down as tradition
Spirits also have:
• Realm-specific naming trends
• Clan names
• Elemental names
• Titles that become names
• Inherited or earned names
Some names become very popular in certain species.
Why So Many Vampires Love Names Like Draco, Draven, etc.
This one comes up all the time.
In the vampiric realms—especially the darker courts—names hold power.
Certain names resonate with:
• Strength
• Fearlessness
• Night energy
• Prestige within their clan
• Ancestral memory
Names like Draco, Draven, Drean, Dragos, Draeth, and similar forms have heavy lineage symbolism.
They often originate from ancient root words that mean:
• Dragon-blooded
• Night-born
• Marked by power
• Of the dark flame
It’s basically the astral equivalent of humans naming a baby “Alexander” or “Isabella”—strong names with history behind them.
And Sometimes? A Name Is Just a Coincidence.
Not everything in the metaphysical world is cosmic destiny.
Sometimes… spirits simply like a name.
Some choose their own names.
Some adapt names so humans can pronounce them.
Some choose a name because it reminds them of a positive memory, a past life, or an aesthetic preference.
And yes—sometimes it’s just coincidence.
A lovely, simple coincidence.
What Matters Most Isn’t the Name—It’s the Connection
The deeper truth is this:
A name is the least important part of a spirit’s identity.
What matters is:
• Their bond with you
• Their energy
• Their behavior
• Their protection, guidance, and companionship
• Their unique presence in your life
You will always recognize your spirit by how they feel—not by what they’re called.
Names can repeat.
Energy never does.
